Oluvil Port Project (Ampara District)

This port will be developed with appropriate shore facilities to accommodate general cargo vessel requirements, cater large ships with in-built tanks exceeding the eight meter depth level mark, and supply current needs of the area.

The project at a cost 46.1 million Euros funded by the Danish Government is expected to commence operations in 27 months. The Port will have the capability to cater to large ships with in-built tanks exceeding the eight meter depth level mark.

Project components:

- Construction of two breakwaters - 550m length and 755m length respectively.
- Dredging 8m of the habour basin to accommodate 5000 DWT vessels in the first phase and 16,000 DWT vessels in the second phase

Present Status:

- Signed the contract agreement with Government of Denmark in March 2008.
- Construction work ceremonially started on 06th May 2008.

Trincomalee Port - Ocean City Development



This project is to develop an industrial and tourism zone using 10,565 acres of land around the Trincomalee harbour.

Present Status: Request for proposals has been called locally and internationally from the potential investors.
